The Zimmeran Telegram is rumored to be one of the most influential reasons for the United States to join WWI. Between 1914 and 1917, WWI has been going on with the European Nations. At this time, the U.S was neutral and did not want any involvement with the battle until they intercepted The Zimmerman Telegram. This Telegram was a message to Mexico from Germany which offered U.S territory in the outcome of the war if they joined forces. Before the Zimmerman Telegram, Germany had already broken the Sussex Pledge, pledge that served peace between submarine warfare. In response to the breaking of the Sussex pledge, the United States severed diplomatic relations with Germany. This message helped draw the United States into the war and thus changed the course of history.
